In recognition and celebration of the many cultures that historically and presently are associated with the Santa Cruz Valley, the Tumacácori Fiesta presents traditional aspects of these cultures. The fiesta features approximately fifty food and craft booths, continuous live entertainment on stage, a farmers’ market and activities for families each day. On Sunday, begin the day at 10:00 a.m. in front of the Visitor Center and take part in a procession through the Fiesta grounds to the historic church. The procession is followed by a traditional Mariachi Mass in front of the church. The mission grounds and park are open throughout the weekend and admission is free.
When I’ve attended, I’ve seen little girls in brightly colored costumes dancing traditional Mexican folk dances and teenaged boys performing the Pascua Yaqui Deer Dance and slowly being joined by their tribal community members. I’ve sampled delicious local foods and purchased beautiful chili pepper ristras.
The Fiesta is a 45 minute drive from the Adobe Rose Inn through the beautiful Sonoran Desert. Have a scrumptious breakfast at the Inn and attend the Fiesta!
